Italy: Bonus colonnine domestiche

The Italian Ministry of Enterprises (MIMIT) supports private charging points with a non-repayable grant. The scheme is handled by Invitalia.

Who Grant Maximum amount
Private individuals resident in Italy 80% of eligible costs €1,500
Condominiums – charging points in common areas 80% of eligible costs €8,000
  • Device: a new standard-power charging station that meets the minimum requirements of ARERA resolution 541/2020 and is on the official GSE list of home chargers on the day of the application.
  • Eligible costs: purchase and installation, electrical installation, necessary construction work, control and monitoring systems, design, site supervision, inspection and a new grid connection (POD).
  • Period: installation completed between 26/06/2026 and 31/12/2026 – earlier costs do not count.
  • Application: online on the Invitalia platform with SPID, CIE or CNS, from 22/09/2026 to 31/01/2027.
  • Budget: first come, first served while funds last – €15 million is available for 2026.

Important: Before buying, check whether your wallbox model is on the GSE list. No listing, no grant. We do not offer the go-e Gemini (fixed installation) in Italy, as go-e does not approve it there.

France: VAT and ADVENIR

The tax credit for private charging stations (crédit d'impôt borne de recharge, up to €500) has no longer been available since 01/01/2026. It only applies to invoices paid by 31/12/2025. What remains:

Reduced VAT rate of 5.5%

  • Who: private individuals, for main and secondary residences, including in multi-unit residential buildings.
  • Condition: the wallbox and installation come from the same qualified installer on one invoice, and the installer is certified for charging infrastructure (IRVE, mandatory from 3.7 kW).
  • Otherwise: if you buy the wallbox yourself and only have it installed, the full rate of 20% applies to the device.

ADVENIR bonus for multi-unit residential buildings

Project Subsidy
Individual charging point in a multi-unit residential building 50% of net costs, max. €1,000 per charging point
Shared charging point (jointly used parking spaces) 50%, max. €1,660 per charging point
Collective basic infrastructure 50%, up to €12,500 for up to 100 parking spaces, plus €125 for each additional parking space
  • New amounts: apply to projects approved at the owners' general meeting from 01/04/2026.
  • Application: via an installer listed with ADVENIR, before work begins.
  • Single-family home: not eligible for ADVENIR.

Outlook: A €500 bonus for a controllable wallbox in a single-family home has been announced for 2027, linked to the purchase of a used electric car. The exact conditions have not yet been officially published.

Hungary: current situation

  • Private wallbox: As of October 2026, there is no ongoing state subsidy programme for wallboxes in private homes.
  • Otthoni Energiatároló Program (OETP): supports battery storage for PV systems with up to HUF 2.5 million per household – wallboxes are not included. The first application round has closed and the second is currently suspended.
  • Businesses: the programmes for electric vehicles and charging stations from the EU Recovery Fund have ended. For investments, KAVOSZ's Széchenyi Kártya loans offer favourable financing – but this is a loan, not a grant.

We will update this article as soon as a new programme is announced.

Our tips

  • Check the application timing – in France, the ADVENIR application must be submitted before work begins; in Italy, what counts is that the installation is completed within the funding period.
  • Keep invoices and proof of payment carefully – they are required by all programmes.
  • Always have the installation carried out by a qualified electrician – in France, this is even a requirement for the reduced VAT rate.
  • In multi-unit residential buildings, talk to the property management or owners' association early – this is where the grants are highest.

Conclusion

In 2026, you get the most out of Italy: an 80% grant of up to €1,500 for your private wallbox, while the budget lasts. In France, you save through the reduced VAT rate and, in multi-unit residential buildings, through ADVENIR. In Hungary, there is currently no subsidy for private wallboxes.
