Disposal of old devices and batteries

In Austria, waste electrical and electronic equipment as well as batteries and accumulators must not be disposed of with household waste. As a distributor of charging stations, accessories and photovoltaic components, we explain your free return options here.

What does the crossed-out wheelie bin symbol mean?

Products marked with the symbol of a crossed-out wheelie bin must not be disposed of with normal household waste at the end of their service life. They contain valuable materials as well as components that may be harmful to the environment or health, which must be collected separately and recycled properly. This applies equally to charging stations (wallboxes), charging cables, accessories with electronic components and any batteries and accumulators they contain.

Waste electrical and electronic equipment

When you buy an equivalent new device (e.g. a new wallbox to replace your old one), we will take back your old device free of charge on a one-for-one basis – regardless of where you originally bought it:

  • By post/parcel service: Contact us in advance at onlinesales@ampion.at or by phone on +43 676 3575601 so that we can arrange the return shipment with you.
  • Drop-off in person at our company premises: Ampion GmbH, Hackinger Straße 52, 1140 Vienna.

For bulky old devices (e.g. wallboxes that have already been dismantled), we will arrange a free collection once you get in touch.

From 1 October 2026, you can also return very small waste electrical devices (external dimensions up to 25 cm, e.g. charging cable plugs or small accessories) to us free of charge without buying a new device.

Alternatively, you can hand in waste electrical equipment free of charge at any time at your municipality’s waste collection centre or recycling centre.

Batteries and accumulators

We take back batteries and accumulators – for example from storage solutions or accessories – free of charge at any time, regardless of whether you buy a new device, via the same channels described above (post/parcel service or drop-off in person) or, alternatively, at any waste collection centre or any point of sale that sells batteries.

When returning lithium batteries and accumulators, please observe the following safety instructions: before transport, tape over the contacts or pack the component individually in non-flammable packaging to prevent short circuits; do not open damaged or swollen cells yourself and label them separately. Batteries that are not disposed of properly can release substances that pose a fire and environmental hazard.

Why this matters

Separate collection of waste electrical equipment and batteries conserves resources, prevents the improper disposal of components containing harmful substances and enables the recovery of valuable raw materials such as copper, aluminium and rare earths. As a distributor of charging infrastructure and PV components, we are committed to this responsibility in the spirit of the circular economy.
