The go-e Controller

The go-e Controller ensures that excess power from a PV system is used to charge electric cars. This allows you to maximize your investment in a PV system by increasing your own consumption. Using dynamic load management, the go-e Controller prevents overloading of the household connection by automatically reducing the charging power for electric cars and plug-in hybrids connected to go-e chargers when peak loads are detected, and then increasing it again as soon as possible.

The go-e Controller is compatible with all go-e chargers (PRO, Gemini, Gemini 2.0 and HOME series) and all types of PV inverters* as well as AC battery storage systems ** .

*PV optimization is also possible without direct measurement of production by the inverter. Self-production can be measured and visualized via a sensor only for AC inverters.

**A DC-coupled battery storage unit cannot be measured, but a setting in the app can be used to prevent it from being permanently discharged when charging the electric car (not with HOME V2).

Energy monitoring with the go-e controller

With the go-e Controller, you can monitor the energy flows of buildings. This allows you to control the charging processes of electric cars even more intelligently, depending on the position of the sun and the current power demand in a building, in conjunction with go-e Chargers.

You can also use the go-e Controller simply to monitor appliances. This way, you can keep an eye on the energy flows of your heat pump, air conditioner, or sauna, for example. The go-e Controller can be operated in either single-phase or three-phase mode.

With three-phase power grids, you can monitor three additional devices (e.g. PV inverter, AC battery storage and heat pump), and with single-phase power grids, you can even monitor five additional devices.

Self-consumption optimization: PV surplus charging

With the go-e Controller, you can charge excess solar energy into the batteries of electric vehicles via one or more go-e Chargers.

If your PV panels generate more energy than is needed to operate your household appliances, charging them increases your self-consumption and saves you money with green energy. PV production measurement is not necessary for the PV surplus charging and dynamic load management functions.

However, by measuring directly at the inverter's AC connection, self-consumption can also be accurately displayed. No direct communication with the PV system is necessary.

Battery storage systems can also be considered, as long as they can be measured at the AC connection (with hybrid inverters with a DC battery connection, direct measurement of battery power is not possible). You decide whether charging should be done exclusively with excess PV power or also with grid power.

Automatic phase switching ***

If your PV system generates at least 1.4 kW of excess energy, the go-e Controller transmits this information to the go-e Charger, which then takes care of the actual charging process using excess PV power.

The controller automatically switches between single-phase and three-phase charging depending on the available power. This allows you to achieve high self-consumption even with low PV surplus production. As soon as your PV system produces sufficient surplus, the go-e controller switches to three-phase charging.

***Only available for HOME Series V3, Gemini, Gemini 2.0 and PRO Series.

Dynamic load management to protect against power outages and peak shaving

To avoid power outages, you need a load management system when charging electric cars. The go-e Charger already features static load management, which allows you to take your building's maximum available power into account when charging multiple electric cars. However, you would need to plan for a buffer, as other power consumers are running in the building. Therefore, the go-e Controller enables dynamic load management.

If necessary due to multiple simultaneous power consumers, the charging power of the go-e chargers connected to the go-e controller is automatically adjusted. As a result, your household appliances and charging stations don't consume more power at once than your home's power supply can handle. And it all happens fully automatically.

Convenient control from the couch

Set your preferences for solar energy generation and consumption via the app, right from your couch. Or use the go-e app to access all the controller's settings and customize them to your needs. Whether it's dynamic load management or your building's power consumption, you'll keep an eye on everything. Once the controller is connected via Wi-Fi or LAN, charging your electric vehicle becomes even easier, safer, more cost-effective, and more sustainable.

Advanced features for experts and integrators

Do you have programming skills? Gain even more control over electric vehicle charging. The go-e Controller features additional interfaces such as a local HTTP API, Modbus TCP, and MQTT. With the optional cloud connection, the controller's functions can be further optimized.

Where is the go-e controller installed?

An electrical distribution board is recommended as the installation location . If this no longer offers space, it is also possible to install the go-e controller in a new surface-mounted/flush-mounted distribution board next to it and route the connection cables for the voltage measurement and current transformer there.
